This group has described the bread as the villian and excercise as the hero in terms of Propps characteristics, I personally do not agree with this concept because I believe that weight gain is caused by lack of self decipline. The comic has an initial equilibrium where the students are eating in the dinning hall but they do not clearly show the effect that the bread has on the student, so we do not have a real distraction. But they send out a good message that in order for a first year student to avoid the first year spread they should be active.

I think that this is a really effective comic strip and that you did a terrific job of showing one of a girl's worst nightmares (weight gain) in a comic way. This really kept my attention. The fact that water and fruit are portrayed as Proppian heroes, while bread as a Proppian villain, makes this very interesting and also informative at the same time. Even though it is entertaining, this is more than just a silly comic because it is informing first years about keeping healthy. Maybe seeing the affect that the bread has on the student would make the comic even more effective though. Also, maybe the introduction of the idea of exercise as another alternative to combating fist year spread would have been a good idea. This way, first years won’t feel as though they have to be completely diet conscious when they arrive here.
